Electron, a blockchain infrastructure company specializing in Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and zero-knowledge interoperability, has launched BitcoinBridge in beta. This new bridge lets users move native BTC across chains and tap into decentralized finance (DeFi) on networks like Ethereum, Solana, and Berachain.

Bitcoin has long been a trusted asset in the crypto ecosystem, but its functionality remains significantly limited by the constraints of its native blockchain. BitcoinBridge unlocks the potential of idle BTC by allowing holders to access DeFi services such as trading, earning, and engaging with NFTs.

“Bitcoin is the most trusted and established asset in crypto, but much of it still sits idle,” said Garvit Goel, Founder and CEO of Electron. “BitcoinBridge gives users a way to activate their BTC and help it reach even greater potential through DeFi ecosystems – that they likely already use!”

By utilizing Bitcoin in smart contract ecosystems through BitcoinBridge, users pay significantly lower fees than existing alternatives. BTC can be bridged and deployed across DeFi apps in a more secure and cost-efficient manner, with transfer fees starting at just 0.1%.

Instead of relying on chain-specific contracts or wrapped token models, BitcoinBridge uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and a threshold Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) to securely handle bridge logic and key material. This minimizes the onchain attack surface, removes single points of failure, and enables faster deployment across multiple chains.

BitcoinBridge is designed to support up to $1.5B USD in monthly swap volume. Unlike traditional bridges that split liquidity across pools, it uses a dynamic liquidity engine to optimize capital efficiency. This model eliminates the need for high APYs to attract liquidity to benefit both users and integrators.

Electron is backed by leading firms including Stake Capital, Gnosis, LambdaClass, and Legion. BitcoinBridge represents the next evolution in its mission to build secure, composable, and scalable infrastructure for decentralized applications. For more information, visit bitcoinbridge.app.
