EigenCloud introduces a versatile AVS framework to bolster blockchain security and verifiability across multiple chains, leveraging Ethereum’s cryptoeconomic security.





EigenCloud, a cutting-edge platform built on the EigenLayer protocol, is advancing its capabilities to support multi-chain environments through its Autonomous Verifiable Services (AVSs). The platform aims to harness Ethereum’s cryptoeconomic security to provide a robust foundation for various blockchain applications, according to EigenCloud.

Enhancing Blockchain Security

The rise of diverse blockchains, each with distinct objectives like performance, trading, or security, has led to increased fragmentation in the blockchain ecosystem. EigenCloud addresses this challenge by supplying decentralized trust, enabling new protocols, applications, and rollups to leverage Ethereum’s security. This approach mitigates the need for new networks to establish their own validator sets, which often results in security vulnerabilities.

AVS: A Multi-Chain Solution

AVSs on EigenCloud consist of onchain and offchain components. The onchain component involves smart contracts that facilitate operator registration, rewards, and slashing, while the offchain component serves as a custom execution environment. This dual structure allows AVSs to perform computations offchain and verify them onchain, ensuring security and reliability.

EigenCloud’s AVS framework includes three critical components for multi-chain environments:

  1. Generation of EigenLayer State: This involves creating a stake table that represents the cryptoeconomic security available, detailing the stake allocated by operators to an AVS.
  2. Stake Transportation: To utilize AVS security across chains, the state is transported using methods like general message passing bridges or validity proofs.
  3. Verification: Computation evidence must be expressible on Ethereum to enforce security, allowing for operator accountability.

Designing for a Multi-Chain Future

EigenCloud’s AVS designs include innovative solutions like the Shared Sequencing AVS, where rollups delegate sequencing rights to a shared sequencer to achieve faster finality and interoperability. Additionally, the Oracle AVS design enables the settlement of offchain data onchain, critical for applications like prediction markets and DeFi protocols.

Moreover, the platform supports a Cosmos Appchain AVS, allowing operators to delegate their stake to appchain validators. This design leverages Cosmos’s Oracle Vote Extension for state transportation, integrating EigenLayer’s security into the Cosmos ecosystem.

Future Developments

EigenCloud’s vision for a multi-chain future emphasizes unified security and verifiability. With ongoing developments, including support for EVM environments, EigenCloud is poised to simplify multi-chain deployments for developers. Upcoming releases, such as the DevKit framework and enhanced documentation, will further empower developers to build secure, multi-chain applications on EigenCloud.
